THE CHARACTER FULL NAME: Trisana Chandler SERIES/FANDOM: The Circle of Magic/The Circle Opens/The Will of the Empress, a series of novels by Tamora Pierce AGE: 16 GENDER: Female SPECIES: Human SEXUALITY: Straight ALIGNMENT: Good
PERSONALITY AND HISTORY: Mage, bibliomaniac, teacher, and friend, Trisana of the merchant house Chandler has a lot of responsibility for an eighteen year old girl. She's used to it, of course; it's something she's had to bear ever since she was a child. Her family members, seeing her magic and fearing her to be evil or cursed, passed her from relative to relative, where she lived as a burden, working to earn her keep. Tris learned how to clean before most children leaned the concept of mess.
When she was sent to Winding Circle, all that changed. People still teased her, of course, pulling at her hair and calling her "fatty." They still looked at her with fear when hail suddenly started pouring ... indoors. But suddenly, she had friends, a proper family at last. Her foster family (two girls: Sandry and Daja and one boy: Briar) were kind to her in a way no one else was, and as a result, she cares about them fiercely. Their bond is stronger than normal, thanks to the circumstances that pulled them together. The four young mages have battled pirates and plague, great earthquakes and terrible fires. Their magic is woven together. They can even speak mind-to-mind.
Tris's responsibilities were undiminished upon her arrival at Winding Circle. Now that she was identified as a mage, she would have to study hard to keep her powers under control. This was no easy task for Tris, who has a temper that matches her hair: fiery and wild. She is a passionate about the things that interest her, from the weather to the stars, and may the Green Man help anyone who gets in her way.
Tris is infamous for being intensely stubborn, a characteristic that is often mistaken for arrogance. Having been taunted so much as a child, she is reluctant to engage with others, often preferring to sit alone with a book. Tris is is extremely clever, with a sharp tongue that cuts anyone who gets on her bad side. Which is everyone. This, along with her tendency to voice the prejudices of her class don't exactly endear her to others. Still, those who take the time to see past her caustic exterior find a caring and strong young woman, ready for action.
ABILITIES: With weather magic in excess, Tris has more power than she knows what to do with. She can do more than just make it drizzle; in the past she'd been known to create tornadoes, cause lighting, even scry on the wind. She keeps her magic stored in a rather unusual place: her hair.
WEAKNESSES: Tris's temper, combined with the volatile nature of her magic means that things can get a bit ... sticky sometimes. It takes nothing less than the strictest control to keep her powers in line, something which she often lacks. Too much emotion, too angry or too sad, and tragic consequences have been known to occur. People have died or been seriously injured simply because she wasn't able to keep control. It's downright dangerous to be around her.
CANON POINT: Will of the Empress .
